Singer-songwriter Megan Luttrell is known for powerhouse vocals and compelling original music. WFHB Radio (Bloomington, IN), describes her sound as, "a big country, Americana, blues-style voice” and called her songs “beautifully powerful."

Megan grew up in Massachusetts and later moved to Vermont to attend the University of Vermont. She made her way to Kansas from the Northeast in 2011 to pursue a PhD in Slavic Languages and Literatures at the University of Kansas, which she completed in 2018. While in grad school, Megan joined the Lawrence music scene, starting at open mics and booking shows at local venues. She released her debut album "Broken Bottles" in June 2016.

After the sudden death of her mother in 2019, Megan resigned from her job as a Russian lecturer to be with family. It was then that she began pursuing music full-time. Unmistakably Lawrence called her “the biggest breakout star of the past year” (2019). In 2020, Megan won first place in Best of Lawrence's Best Solo Musician category.

She released the singles, “Miss You” and “Folk Singer" in April 2019, which won 4th place in the 2019 Kansas City People’s Choice Awards. She released singles “Burn” and “Just Out of Reach” in 2020, and “Hold On (Not Too Long)” in 2021. Her single, “Take Me Back,” was released in August 2024. Check out an interview with the Pitch KC about the song. Her newest single, “The Letter,” came out on July 4, 2025.

Besides performing, Megan has worked to support and expand the local music community. In 2019, she started the Women’s Songwriter Showcase, a monthly event lauded by local media. Megan was recognized for her work to support women in music when she won second place in the Kansas City People’s Choice Awards for the artist doing the most good for the local music scene. She helped create the Lumberyard Live on High live music series at the Lumberyard Arts Center in Baldwin City, Kansas, for which she served as Program Director. Megan was also on the executive board of Americana Music Academy.

On June 30, 2025, Megan gave birth to her second child, Dylan. She is taking a break from performing for the next few months but will be back on stage in mid-September.

“She’s got sass, beauty, presence, and a voice that rings true like a tuning fork to the heart — better catch her while she’s still local!”
— Melvin Litton, host of the Gothic Cowboy Review
